Our Approach to Education
All students at Clinton Christian Academy receive an individualized education. The curriculum is broken down into small units of learning called PACEs. In order for the student to pass that PACE they must master the material. In grades 1-5 a 90% is passing. In grades 6-12 an 80% is passing. If the PACE is not mastered, the PACE is repeated.
Student who enroll at CCA from other schools will be given diagnostic placement tests. These tests prescribe a level of learning appropriate for the student. Some student that have been taught in a traditional classroom setting develop learning "gaps". These are areas that a student may not have fully mastered all the concepts taught. Because, in most schools, the teacher must get through the whole curriculum with the class as a group, the class goes on, sometimes leaving students without having learned critical concepts. The diagnostic test will find any gaps a student might have in their learning and the appropriate PACE will be assigned to them. This ensures that the student will be working at a level they can succeed.
Another advantage to individualized education is that the student can advance at their own rate. Student are expected to complete 12 PACEs a year in each subject, but many students can advance faster than this. The student sets goals that they can achieve. They are supervised while they are learning. Developing goals setting skills are an valuable asset when students advance into college and universities. Student do better when they manage their time well. The school teaches them to be disciplined and well organized.
Besides getting an excellent education, students build character and integrity through the study God's word. Student learn to be Appreciative, Attentive, Available, Committed, Compassionate, Concerned, Considerate, Consistent, Content, Cooperative, Courageous, Creative, Decisive, Deferent, Dependable, Determined, Diligent, Discerning, Discreet, Efficient, Equitable, Fair, Faithful, Fearless, Flexible, Forgiving, Friendly, Generous, Gentle, Honest, Humble, Joyful, Kind, Loyal, Meek, Merciful, Observant, Optimistic, Patient, Peaceful, Perseverant, Persuasive, Prudent, Punctual, Purposeful, Resourceful, Respectful, Responsible, Secure, Self-Controlled, Sincere, Submissive, Tactful, Temperate, Thorough, Thrifty, Tolerant, Truthful, and Virtuous.
